Despite the 2211 unearthing the Final Crucible – a centuries-old religious cult originating from Earth – and subsequent arrests, the mysterious organization was long suspected to have remaining holdouts in remote corners of human space. After the UNS Von Braun's discovery of a small cultist fleet in Eurav Wass, the UN Security Council authorized the deployment of the 1st Strike Fleet to neutralize the threat.
Commanded by Rear Admiral Heidi Neumann, the fleet engaged the cultists on 2212.01.14. Despite superb tactical command, concentrated enemy firepower resulted in the loss of the UNS Skalski, with ten crew members lost in its destruction.
