Beginning a new game

Hello there Leviathan subscribers.

After a delay on the poll end (I was away at an event Friday and Saturday), I have finally checked the results. The United Nations of Earth will be the next nation I play as in Stellaris, and the basis for the next setting for The Leviathan.

In addition, the other options on the poll will be forced spawns in the new game. This is because of a worldbuilding project that I will be working on in conjunction with the game and writing articles – this will hopefully help create a more immersive experience for the readers.

I will be playing 2.2.5.

I have made a few aesthetic changes to the UNE: The emblem is now a field of stars rather than the continents of Earth, because an image of Earth would not represent future colonies; the city and ship design has been changed from "Humanoid" to "Mammalian" because I felt that the Humanoid designs were far too beautifully utopian and futuristic to capture the huge variation of living conditions that the United Nations would likely carry with it into space, nor the quasi-cyberpunk theme I believe I will end up dabbling in. The leader name has also been changed to Secretary-General, which is what the highest office in the UN actually is.

Finally, when the necessary technology is researched, I will be adding the "Meritocracy" civic, as I feel that best represents one of the UN's core values – human equality.

I will be playing on a 1000 star 2-arm spiral galaxy spawning 15-30 AI empires. There will be 3 advanced AI starts, 4 Fallen Empires, and 2 Marauder Empires. Primitive civilizations has been upped to 1.25x, and crisis strength to 1.25x. Everything else will be default. Ironman mode is on.

I'll be starting the game soon, so expect an opening article to be pushed out in an hour or so.

All old posts have been tagged pre-reset to avoid confusion.
